Letters and Listed
These days now I'm no longer permitted to:
Drink
Smoke
Take drugs
Sniff glue
Make fires on waste ground
Have sex
Sleep in the street
Look at "other" women
Drip melted plastic on to my skin
Piss whilst naked with the seat down
Look at the animals in the back field for too long
Stand naked in the back garden gazing at the animals in the back field.
Have I mentioned drink? Oh yes.
I have covertly retained one pleasure.
When everyone is asleep I creep downstairs like that guy in the R Whites ad and sniff the pages of thirty year old copies of Melody Maker - the intensity of the hit is indescribable. It was whilst indulging in this practice that I stumbled across this letter from the 3rd September 1977.
Why the music journalists (spit) at Melody Maker made up these letters is a mystery to me. But I derived great pleasure reading this letter using the voice of the art critic Brian Sewell to do so (in the absence of Mr Sewell's voice any posh prig will do). I know I keep quoting it but once again "The past is a foreign country they do things differently there". Good old L.P. Hartley he was on the money with that one.

Final Requests
The Stranglers, gentlemen, please record a version of The Dirty Pretty Things track "If You Love a Woman" you'll find it on the "Waterloo to Anywhere" long player. Both Baz & JJ sharing the vocals, free download on completion please.
And finally on the idiot box in May Damon Albarn's one time co star Robert Carlisle (what did happen to Albarns film career?) made a starring appearance in Channel Four's "The Rise of Evil" or Hitler the early years to you & me. I was ranting to my eleven year old son about this piece of rubbish when he said "Hitler the early years? Will scene one be his mother cutting off one of his balls?" It made me laugh anyway.
